We hired a dragon boat to take us down the Perfume River in Central Vietnam.

We visited Thien Mu Pagoda, Hon Chen Temple, and Mihn Mang Tomb.  The river trip was a fantastic way to view the working life of the local villages, and to experience the rhythm of life here.  The trip was very interesting, and Everest was amazed at the quality of the delicious food that was made in the tiny galley!

We were reminded of our friend Ralph as we meandered down this lovely river.  During the war this was a hotbed of fear - and any one of these peasant farmers that are now headed to market could have been harboring hostiles with machine guns.  As Jeff explained the war to Everest, it became more real to all of us the incredible obstacles our service men and women faced.  Everyday is 95-100 degrees with 100% humidity, and the river bank is a tumble of activities with rice farmers, water buffalo and immense jungle.
